Community Service is On Hold

Going into the new year, I will temporarily be stopping work on Community Service, and on game development as a whole. Community Service will receive no new updates, though I will be on hand from time to time to ensure no major game-breaking bugs appear. I know some people won't be happy with this news, and I have tried to explain my reasoning below, as well as what happens next.

Why I'm taking a break?

This has been done for several reasons. For one thing, I have been working on Community Service for around a year and a half, and while at first the project was fun, releasing updates on a monthly basis has become quite a chore. I still enjoy the creative process, but I need to take a step back for a while. Additionally, Patreon has not provided enough of an income source for me to continue full time on the game as I have been doing, and I need to explore other employment during my break. This is not a cancellation. I fully expect to return to game development at some point in the future and resume work on Community Service. There's still a lot more to tell with the story, and I want to see the project completed one day.

What happens next?

I will still be on hand from time to time to moderate Discord and respond to user posts. My pages on BuyMeACoffee and SubscribeStar have been deleted, and their links removed from the game. The On-Hold Tag has been requested on F95, and will appear there shortly. This message is being sent out across Discord, F95, and itch.io.

What about Patreon?

- The payment cycle has been paused, patrons will not be charged in January
- Annual patrons are eligible for a partial refund of their pledge, given the remaining time on their pledge length
- Any recent patrons (less than 7 days) are also eligible for a refund given how recent their pledge was
- The Patreon Page will be unpublished on January 1st

What about Discord?

- Current roles will be kept until the end of the month
- On January 1st all users will lose their roles (due to Patreon being unpublished)
- I will still be active here, but no new teasers or updates will be released
